The body mass index risk

Women who have a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 30 or higher have an increased risk of pregnancy complications.  If you are considering pregnancy, Dr. Gray will meet with you and discuss these risks and develop a strategy to reach a healthy weight BEFORE becoming pregnant.

If you are already pregnant, Dr. Gray can still help you meet your pregnancy goals. She will take a thorough review of your family and medical history and develop a personalized plan for your prenatal care. This plan may include additional testing, increased monitoring for you and your baby as well as other risk reduction strategies. Working together, Dr. Gray can help you achieve a healthy pregnancy.

Dr. Gray may suggest:

  • Specialized ultrasounds by expert technicians
  • Additional blood work and testing for related conditions
  • Dietician guidance and nutritional counseling
  • Safe weight gain/loss planning
